Academic Advisors (formerly Connecticut Speed School’s education arm) has been helping students soar past their academic and test preparation goals since 2011.
Our model is simple: pay more for the best instructors around, get those instructors the best resources possible, and use data analysis to make learning as efficient as possible.
We look forward to helping you with
- Academic Tutoring
- Test Preparation (SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, and most any other acronym laden test)
- Study Skills
- Supplementation Education (learning about some topic solely because you’re interested in it)
In addition, we have many cutting-edge, low-cost programs designed to fit both your budgets and needs.

Random Vinny Facts
Favorite Podcast: The Omnibus
Catch him listening to…90s hip-hop, 90s alternative, classic rock, 2019 pop music (thanks kids)
Last books read: Grit, Make it Stick, Parallel Worlds, The Marshmallow Test, Fight Club, and a slew of early-reader books (thanks again, kids).
Vinny is writing this about himself in the third person—that makes him feel special. Vinny has a BS in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Connecticut and a MSc from Fairfield University in Applied Mathematics. He is the lead teacher for all the programs running at the Academic Advisors and has written 99% of the content that has helped students see their goals in the rear-view mirror.
In addition to this full time job, he also has a full time job running a national education company (Test Prep Wizards) that specializes in diagnostic testing for school and institutions as well as material licensing. In addition to that, he also is an Adjunct Professor at his alma mater, Fairfield University. He usually teaches Accelerated Statistics but also dabbles in some calculus teaching and more basic statistics courses. He puts that statistics knowledge to good uses pinpointing student weakness through data and then crafting action plans to help students dominate their studies.
Vinny spends what little free time he has with his amazing family, pretending he is still athletic enough to play basketball with millenials, or trying to find 15 minutes to take a nap.
